Dynamic IP Change Configuration

When the NetWinder receives a dynamic IP address change, it will automatically reconfigure all the services that were using the old IP address to now use the new IP address. It is possible to control which of these services you want to update automatically and which you would prefer to do manually.

Each line in the Dynamic IP Change configuration table operates the same. When the checkbox in the Automatic Update is checked, OfficeServer will automatically update that service. When the checkbox in the Report column is checked, OfficeServer will e-mail a report of the changes that were made to the system. The following table describes the services that can be automatically updated.

Description of configurable services for automatic update:

When we are using DHCP to configure other machines on the network we may need to update the DHCP configurations file to reflect the new IP address. After updating this configuration file the DHCP server will be restarted.

DNS - Forward domain names If forwarding DNS to any machine is being utilized then the forwarding rules need to be updated. After editing these files, DNS will be restarted.
DNS - Reverse domain names If reverse DNS lookups are being utilized then the reverse files need to be updated. After editing these files, DNS will be restarted.
Host name aliases The name in the host file should be is consistent with the new IP address.
Port forwarding If this interface is being used to forward ports to another machine, these rules will need to be updated with the new IP address. After updating these rules, the web server will be restarted.
RebelRemote If RebelRemote is installed on the interface with the dynamic IP address, it's configuration files need to be updated with the new IP address. RebelRemote will then be restarted. This will effectively close all active connections at the time of the IP address change.
Virtual hosts When there are virtual hosts configured on the system, which are attached to the dynamic interface, the configuration files need to be updated the IP address changes. After updating these configuration files the web server will be restarted.
